Filtering email messages

When you join a list-served bulletin board (aka internet discussion group, aka listserver, aka email list...), it sometimes happens that your email load increases a bit dramatically and you might find yourself wishing that the messages would sort themselves out for you.

You can have your email program sort your incoming messages into different mailboxes (aka folders, aka trays, aka directories) by constructing filters.

The principles of creating filters for Pegasus 2.5 for Windows, Eudora v .0 Pro, and Netscape v4.04 are (will be) covered here.  If you have a different email program, it should still be possible to understand the general idea from studying this information.

Pegasus 2.5 for Windows

Eudora Pro v 3.0

Netscape 4.04 Messenger Mail

[Note:  the Eudora and Netscape pictures are from Win 95.  Eudora Pro 3.0 can be run under Win 3.x I believe, and I don't know about Netscape 4.04 -- I think not.  Things will look a little different under Win 3.x but probably not unrecognizably so.]
